Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or a Diploma in Nursing with relevant work experience
  • Extensive industry experience in a related field
  • Strong background in budgeting and financial management
  • Ability to develop and implement academic programs with a student-centered approach, fostering intercultural understanding, empathy, and respect
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience facilitating large group discussions
  • Leadership experience in guiding individuals and teams through change
  • Collaborative leadership style, adept at building teams and handling complexity while delivering results
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with various stakeholders
  • Proven experience in recruiting, developing, and mentoring faculty and staff to reach their full potential
  • A commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, anti-racism, social justice, diversity, and fostering inclusive communities
  • Proven success in building strong, functional teams
  • Experience in creating a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning, and continuous improvement

Asset Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree or graduate degree in a related field is preferred
  • Specialized training in adult education or a post-graduate certificate in Teaching for Learning in Applied Education
  • Experience with external program accreditation processes
  • Experience working in a post-secondary education environment

Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Associate Dean, the Chair will provide strategic leadership and manage day-to-day operations of academic courses and programs within their department at RRC Polytech. The Chair will align with the college’s strategic and academic goals and implement operational plans for their department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading change and program quality initiatives
  • Managing financial and other resources
  • Recruiting, evaluating, and supporting faculty and staff
  • Ensuring students receive the support they need for success
  • Cultivating effective relationships with industry, community partners, and other college departments

The Chair will be responsible for the overall success of their department, measured by student outcomes, success, and industry satisfaction. They will seek opportunities for program growth, including partnerships and labour market assessments, both locally and internationally. The Chair will promote a collaborative and inclusive environment that fosters teaching excellence, while embedding values of Truth and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in all aspects of their leadership, decisions, and interactions.
